With Sue Greenway Orchestra
Presented by vocalist Tony Jacobs
Guest star Catherine Sykes
The authentic sound and feel of the most popular swing band of all time.
This new show, with Sue Greenway’s seventeen piece orchestra, tells the fascinating story of Glenn Miller and puts his music in the context of the Swing Era by celebrating some of the other contemporary classic big bands such as Artie Shaw, Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman.
Sue Greenway has been steeped in this wonderful music for most of her professional life. She has played with the RAF Squadronnaires, toured for four years with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and has guested with the BBC Big Band.
- an extraordinary big band comprising some of the country’s finest musicians
- an extensive library of authentic big band arrangements
- identical music stands to those that were on occasion used by Major Glenn Miller!
Sue is joined on stage by two singers who also have a passion for this glorious music: the lovely Catherine Sykes, who has toured with the European Glenn Miller Orchestra and Tony Jacobs, ten years vocalist with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra.
The first half of the concert is Glenn Miller’s story. The second half is a helter-skelter delve into the fantastic music of the other big bands
