My Beethoven Journey – John Suchet, OBE

With award-winning classical concert pianist Maria Marchant

“Inside the mind of the man whose life and music is my lifelong passion. New discoveries, myths demolished. The Moonlight, the Emperor, Für Elise – music you thought you knew. You’ll be astonished!” John Suchet

John Suchet, radio and TV presenter, author, journalist and host has had a love affair with Beethoven’s music since his twenties. Amongst his books on classical music masters, he’s published seven books on Beethoven including a special 250th anniversary edition of his 2012 biography ‘Beethoven — The Man Revealed’.

As the voice of morning radio on Classic FM for many years and the host of many concerts, John loved to share his passion for classical music. He was twice honoured for his radio programme on Classic FM.

Earlier in his career he was one of the country’s most popular television reporters and newscasters. He reported for ITN covering major world events and went on to be a newscaster for the station including News at Ten. He was honoured for both roles and in 2008 was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Royal Television Society.

Amongst the many honours bestowed on John, in 2023 he was awarded an OBE for Services to Journalism and Charity in the 2023 New Year Honours List, the first honours list of King Charles III.
